Stone Bird Bath SBB18 Case Study features a hand carved glacial granite boulder with stunning natural markings and tones. Welsh Slate Water Features worked closely with both the Garden Designer and Architect on the design for this property located in Central London. Access was the main constraint on this job so the bird bath and complimentary mossy boulders had to be carefully selected so they could be delivered to site and hand balled down and through this narrow property to the basement courtyard. A simple pallette of green was chosen for the planting with a climber planted towards the back which will cling to the brick wall and head north searching for additional light. A multi stem and a small number of carefully selected ferns ease the height in transition. Seven moss and lychen covered boulders are spaced around the base with cobbles and pebbles filling the larger gaps.

The Stone Bird Bath has been placed so it can be enjoyed from two large floor to ceiling panes of glass. Gentle backlighting completes this contemporary, minimal, Japanese inspired garden design. We have a number of large stone boulders in stock which can all be cut, dressed and if applicable, engraved with house names, number or could be used as memorial stones. This is our largest and most colourful and varied stock ever. Not all of our stock has been added to the website as we can constantly visiting the quarry this time of year to restock on more stone.
