Tsukubai Water Basin TWB04

Tsukubai Water Basin TWB04 is crafted from a Medium sized Purbeck boulder, hand picked from a quarry in Dorset. Naturally rugged, with some stunning features and overall nice shape. Carefully worked to create a recessed deep bowl with a diameter of 200mm and the inner base naturally flat. 

In Japan, a Tsukubai Wash Basin is normally located at the entrance to a holy place for visitors to purify themsleves by the ritual of washing of hands and rinsing of the mouth. Would suit both a traditional and contemporary garden design whilst it retains natural earthy colour tones it also has a modern feel to it. It could also work to bring some contrast as a feature stone in a more traditional setting. Can also be used as a water bowl or vessel in a Japanese Garden Design. Tsukubai Water Basin can be transformed into a working water feature. Add a Reservoir Pack in the basket which includes reservoir, pump, hose and clips. In addition, a bamboo water spout could be placed adjacent to the water bowl and the water fed into the bowl. We can quote you for any individual components you may require. Alternatively, we could core drill the centre and water pumped into the larger basin before cascading out over the top. This Tsukubai Water Basin TWB04 was photographed wet and dry, it is slightly lighter when dry and darkens and the tones deepen when wet. This unique stone feature has a naturally rounded feel and fossils and shells can be seen throughout.  Pictures are of the exact piece you will receive. Having developed a repeatable technique, these can be produced to your requirements. We have a number of variations on this design planned and in progress.
