Tsukubai Wash Basin TWB01

Tsukubai Wash Basin TWB01 is crafted from a Large sized Purbeck boulder, hand picked from a quarry in Dorset. Naturally rugged, with some stunning features and overall nice shape. Carefully worked to create a recessed dish with a diameter of 300mm and the inner base machine polished smooth.  A smaller hole core drilled through to house the water spout. This has been recessed so the bamboo water spout rests inside the hole. The hose neatly concealed and able to run all the way through. The water spout comprises of a vertical column measuring 70cm high, with the horizontal spout extending out approx 30cm from the column. This delicately balances over the middle of the dish.

In Japan, a Tsukubai Wash Basin is normally located at the entrance to a holy place for visitors to purify themsleves by the ritual of washing of hands and rinsing of the mouth. Would suit both a traditional and contemporary garden design whilst it retains natural earthy colour tones it also has a modern feel to it. It could also work to bring some contrast as a feature stone in a more traditional setting. Can also be used as a water bowl or vessel in a Japanese Garden Design. Add a Reservoir Pack in the basket which includes reservoir, pump, hose and clips. Please check the gallery carefully as the photos show the high level of detailing within this piece.

This Tsukubai Wash Basin TWB01 was photographed dry, so will darken slightly when wet. The inner bowl has been delicately polished to give a rounded feel and fossils and shells can be seen below the surface.  Pictures are of the exact piece you will receive. Having developed a repeatable technique, these can be produced to your requirements. We have a number of variations on this design planned and in progress.
