The Slate, Tal Y Bont
After hearing lots of lovely things on the grapevine, and given we work with Welsh Slate everyday, we thought it would be rude not to visit The Slate bar and restaurant in Tal Y Bont, near Bangor. With nearly 400 google reviews and an average rating of 4.4/5 expectations were high for this beautifully designed and maintained business. We booked in quickly and easily via the Book a Table page on their website.
The Slate Menu
You know that feeling when you could quite happily order anything off the menu because it all looks that good? The Slate is one of those places, where fresh seasonal produce is the order of the day.
We started with:
- Garlic King Prawns
- Pork Belly with sticky sweet chilli and red onion
And for mains:
- Coal Charred 10oz Ribeye Steak, Veg Garnish, Hand Cut Chips
- Lamb Cutlets with crispy potatoes and tsatziki
Find The Slate
Found just a few minutes from the A55 expressway, The Slate has on site parking and plenty of outdoor seating areas. We visited on a sunny bank holiday Friday and the bar side of The Slate was buzzing with laughter and chatter. Heading into the restaurant we immediately felt at home with the slate themed colour scheme and a warm welcome from the staff. The slate theme extends throughout the establishment with the hotel rooms named after various nearby Snowdonia quarries. Booking in advance is highly recommended.
