RHS Chelsea 2022

RHS Chelsea has always been a leading example in the industry of how designers and landscapers can bring together materials, construction and planting in the most innovative and creative ways. After the world was turned upside down for two years for us all, RHS Chelsea 2022 was the first chance for the industry to take a deep breath and really shine again. This certainly pushed the best professionals in the field to think beyond normal boundaries and showcase truly inspirational progressive garden design. Sustainability and ethical thinking were prominent themes throughout the show gardens. Water features and natural decorative stones also featured heavily in most designs.

The Meta Garden

Sussex based designer Joe Perkins set out with The Landscaping Consultants to create a garden that emphasised woodland life, particularly the link between plants and fungi within forest ecosystems. The beautifully constructed timber pavilion invokes thoughts of giant tree roots, encouraging us to socialise under their protection and connect better with the nature around us. The subtle stream wandering through the setting features decorative boulders and the planting is balanced between woodland and meadow textures.

The Still Garden

We loved designer Jane Porter‘s gold medal winning “The Still Garden” with sub-contractors Stone Inspired and Alec Stevens. This tranquil space blended organic textures with bold and wholesome planting, all tied together by a breathtaking dry stone wall in Scottish slate pieces. Rustic stepping stones, decorative gravel, reclaimed oak barrel planters and copper gin distilling pot complete this sublime natural design.

Building The Future

This Gold Medal and Best Construction Award winning garden was one of the most dramatic of the show. Designed by Sarah Eberle and brought to life by Landform Consultants, this garden was intended to illustrate the future of sustainable landscapes and buildings. A large scale water feature draws the eye, and the natural decorative rocks blend seamlessly with the planting to create a wonderful organic ambience.
