Gors Fawr Stone Circle

Just south of the Preselli Hills in Pembrokeshire lies Gors Fawr Stone Circle which comprises of 16 boulders in a 22m diameter circle. Eight of the boulders are Blue Dolerite, the same type of natural stone as those used at the UK’s premier neolithic site Stonehenge. It’s thought that these blue stones, at both Gors Fawr and Stonehenge, were all sourced at nearby Carn Meini, a series of crags across the most southern peaks of the Preselli Hills. The other stones used are glacial granite style boulders and the height varies between 300mm and 1000mm around the circle. The site is dated between 3,000 and 4,000 years ago.
